The Art of Insight Method
A.I.M.

AIM to lead differently with the Art of Insight Method

I developed The Art of Insight Method (AIM), an art-integrated approach to coaching that helps leaders and change makers see themselves, their patterns, and their possibilities with greater clarity.

Drawing on over 30 years in studios, classrooms, and galleries, this work uses simple, accessible creative practices, no art experience required, to open new pathways for reflection and awareness. Through image, colour, line, and texture, clients engage a deeper language of insight, one that supports both nervous system regulation and meaningful change.

The result is not just insight; it moves leaders to act more consciously, align more fully with their values, and lead with greater presence and courage.

ROI for Organizations and Communities

The program’s ROI case can draw on both leadership and health research and on existing models for art‑based organizational initiatives.

  • Leadership studies show arts‑based interventions increase emotional intelligence, feedback orientation, and leader identity, capacities that correlate with better performance, conflict resolution, and team climate.

  • Health research finds that art engagement reduces depression, anxiety, and stress, improves cognitive functioning, and can delay dementia, with economic analyses estimating significant savings in healthcare and social support costs.

  • An art‑based leadership program produced better long‑term mental health and favourable changes in stress hormones compared to conventional leadership training, suggesting lower burnout and absenteeism over time.

Corporate art programs that focus on employee well-being and engagement have demonstrated a social return on investment (SROI) of 1.5–1.7x, driven by improved retention, productivity, and brand value.

So what does this look like?

  • Reduced burnout and turnover: Better emotional regulation and wellbeing reduce attrition; even modest improvements in retention can save organizations tens to hundreds of thousands annually through lower replacement and onboarding costs.

  • Higher engagement and innovation: Creative, values‑aligned leaders foster cultures where employees bring more ideas and energy, increasing productivity and effectiveness.

  • Stronger equity and inclusion outcomes: Integrating contemplative, justice‑oriented practices and systems coaching helps organizations address structural issues, improving trust, belonging, and reputational value.

  • Community wellness and social impact: Leaders who practice art‑integrated, values‑based coaching extend benefits into families, communities, and civic spaces, contributing to global wellness through local ripple effects, aligned with your mission at Hunter Coaching and Consulting.

Art-based coaching (individual or team)  is a way of working that brings visual and creative processes into your leadership and life decisions. It helps you move beyond “figuring it out in your head” and into a fuller, holistic understanding of what is actually true for you.

What might a session include?

A session might weave together:

  • A brief grounding or somatic check-in.

  • A short creative prompt (could include nature, painting, printmaking; the list goes on).

  • Conversation about what you notice and what it means.

  • Translating insight into concrete next steps or experiments.

You keep the images or maps we create as touchstones—reminders of what you uncovered and where you’re heading.

Who this is for

Art-based coaching can be especially powerful if you want:

  • Systems Leadership as an evidence‑based, executive program for organizations and change‑makers.

  •  Team activity grounded in growth, fun, and communication.

  •  Humans going through professional or personal transitions or at a crossroads.

  • Clarity around your direction, strategy, and goals.

  • Happiness, which boosts creativity and joy after a period of busyness or burnout.

  • Entrepreneur ready to seriously dig into your potential success.
